KS3 Computing

What you'll learn in Computing. Six themes, a little harder each year: drawing with Python turtle, secret codes, the micro:bit, building web pages, AI and making your own games.

One department plan for Key Stage 3, mapped to the National Curriculum for computing and building towards GCSE. The same six themes every year, harder each year: Python turtle, cyber security through cryptography (with the Bebras Challenge), physical computing with the micro:bit (with Astro Pi Mission Zero), the web, AI and game making. Mostly practical: 18 units of six hands-on lessons, with schemes of work, lesson plans, slides, worksheets and home learning ready to go.

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿซ Teachers only. The teacher planning tools are only for individual teachers and adults in education, or staff on a whole-school subscription. Pupils can't sign in to them or use them.

โš– Assessment points for each year group

Every unit has two checkpoints: a mid-unit quiz, then the project (or an end-of-unit quiz in cyber security and online safety). Change the points for each year group, for example fewer in Year 7. Your plans, schemes, lessons and live lessons use them.
